There seem to be some fundamental similarities between the Soviet and Islamist mentalities, mainly delusions of superiority, xenophobia, and forced absorption. Ironically, Israel sponsored Soviets to come and live in the tiny country to strengthen its numbers against the encroaching Islamists, but it has backfired in many ways because the mantra is ingrained so deeply.
